Get to know me

This picture was taken on the deck of the Main Press Center in Vancouver, when I volunteered with the United States Olympic Committee at the Vancouver Olympic Games.

Hailing from the great state of Minnesota (though people have told me I doesn’t have one of those Fargo-esque accents), I came to Chicago for college, where I studied at DePaul University for my undergraduate and graduate degrees. I love simplicity, "The Wire" and telling a great story.

I'm looking for a full-time journalism job. I love writing. I love telling stories, and I love the feeling at the end of the day when I know I've done great work.

I have experience in several different areas of journalism. From features, to sports to hard news, I can tackle any story or project with creativity and concise, strong writing. No matter the medium for delivering the news or telling stories, I believe great reporting, great writing and great storytelling will always be needed. I'm excited to be a part of the future of journalism, and I think that future is a bright one.

I have experience reporting at major events, like the Vancouver Olympic Games and President Barack Obama's inauguration.

In Vancouver I volunteered with the United States Olympic Committee and wrote stories for the USA Daily.

In addition to covering national and worldwide events, I know the Chicago media landscape well. I write for Centerstage Chicago, have interned at the Chicago Tribune and interned for Chicago's only online local news aggregator, Windy Ctizen. Currently I'm a a part-time web freelancer with Yourseason.com.

I received my B.A. in English from DePaul in November 2008 and my M.A. in journalism from DePaul in November 2009.
